The Quick Shot Rangefinder from Laser Link is a fairly easy-to-use device that was designed by golfers, for golfers. One of the best ways to lower your score in a round is to have accurate yardages to the flagstick and be able to use the perfect club each time. The Quick Shot rangefinder from Laser Link may be just the tool to help you do that. Providing near pinpoint accuracy from 30 to as much as 370 yards, this rangefinder conforms to both USGA and R & A rules (for handicap rounds only, not tournament play) as it measures distance only.

Now, the bad news: if your course doesn't have their flagsticks equipped with reflectors (which the rangefinder needs to bounce back the laser light) this rangefinder is just going to be 3 pounds of dead weight to tote around in your bag.

There are many options to consider when looking for a rangefinder, so be sure to check out the Bushnell Pro 1600 and the Callaway LR550 rangefinders as well and find the model that best suits your needs and course setup.

Suunto Digital Golf Watch G6 | Wrist Top Computer w/ Training Software http://www.zipgolfer.com/suunto-digital-golf-watch-g6-wrist-top-computer-w-training-software/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/suunto-digital-golf-watch-g6-wrist-top-computer-w-training-software/#comments Wed, 07 Apr 2010 00:44:02 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=2266 Suunto Digital Golf Watch G6 I really want this watch. I'm not a gadget guy, and I don't wear a watch, but I really want this watch.

Where do I start? This watch is the golf geek's ideal toy, especially if you're the kind of golf geek that analyzes the ba-jeepers out of everything. (I'm not that guy, but I golf with many that are.) I have a friend that can tell you how many greens he hit on some random golf course that he played three years ago for fun with his dad.

This watch will not only keep score, but it will keep track of all your stats (GIRs, Putts, FIRs). It will also keep track of your handicap, and you can enter the handicaps of your playing partners, and the watch will keep you updated on who's ahead without you having to do the math.

The absolute coolest thing about this watch is: It measures your tempo and swing speed while you swing! Let's face it -- tempo is a huge aspect to your golf swing, and this little tool will give you some resources that not many golfers have at their finger tips. What's more is it's pretty darn cool to know how fast you are swinging, too. Simply plug in the club you are swinging into the watch and swing. The watch will tell you your swing speed.

A couple of things you might want to pick up to go along with this watch: the book "Tour Tempo: Golf's Last Secret Finally Revealed." This will give you a better understanding of tempo and some great drills to copy the tempo of the pros. And, of course, you need a Cable and Software Upgrade Kit. This is the golf manager software that analyzes and identifies your trouble areas.

That being said, it's your choice if you want to buy the software -- it's a bit pricey. I always contend that most people from a purely analytical point of view already know what they need to work on. In other words, you don't need a computer telling you that you need to hit more fairways, or stop three putting.

Sonocaddie V100 GPS Unit | Digital Golf Course Download http://www.zipgolfer.com/sonocaddie-v100-gps-unit-digital-golf-course-download/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/sonocaddie-v100-gps-unit-digital-golf-course-download/#comments Tue, 08 Sep 2009 19:36:31 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=759 Sonocaddie V100 GPS Unit Here's another GPS golf device. I tell you what -- between our cell phones, our iPods, our Blackberrys and now our golf GPS, we're just going to be a species of people walking around with our heads down punching buttons and living in the Matrix.

This Sonocaddie is a more economical version of the Sky Caddie (my personal favorite). It will give you exact yardages to your target, or the distance you just hit the ball, or the distance to the hazard. The display is not nearly as grand as the Sky Caddie, but it gets the job done just the same, and what's more, you only have to pay a one-time lifetime fee of $29.99 to download any course.

The Sonocaddie is a bit drab and not that appealing to me. I like a little more pizzazz. The Sonocaddie is more like Pong, as compared to the Sky Caddie being Sony Playstation.

However, you could buy several rounds of golf for what you save buying the Sonocaddie. Whichever one you buy it will definitely improve your game, especially if you are unsure of how far you hit your clubs. In addition, it will speed up your round.

Just please try to keep your head up, would you?

Callaway idTECH Rangefinder | Waterproof Anti Fog Nikon | Tour Caddie http://www.zipgolfer.com/callaway-idtech-rangefinder-waterproof-anti-fog-nikon-tour-caddie/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/callaway-idtech-rangefinder-waterproof-anti-fog-nikon-tour-caddie/#comments Mon, 07 Sep 2009 16:28:57 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=755 Callaway idTECH Rangefinder Here's a pretty fancy rangefinder. Unless you're a tour caddie, I'm not sure I can see dropping this kind of scratch on a rangefinder. This guy is slick though. I doubt you're going to find a nicer one.

Let's take a look at some of the features. The first thing that is going to impress you is it's completely waterproof and fogproof. So go ahead and dive into the lake with it, especially when you need to get the distance from out of the hazard. They accomplish this waterproofing by filling it with nitrogen and sealing it with O-rings. Wow! Just like the space shuttle.

It has a multi-coated Nikon optic and 6x magnification and a range of up to 550 yards.

Before you throw down on this Rangefinder, you might want to take a look at the Callaway Player Series. It is very similar and a lot less expensive. You could also take a look at my favorite product, the Sky Caddie, which is a golf GPS that will give you exact yardages and a lot more.

Of course, if you are a tour caddie, then by all means please indulge in this cool waterproof nitrogen-filled rangefinder, and don't forget your snorkel.

Callaway Nikon Players Range Finder | Compact Lightweight w/ Travel Case http://www.zipgolfer.com/callaway-nikon-players-range-finder-compact-lightweight-w-travel-case/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/callaway-nikon-players-range-finder-compact-lightweight-w-travel-case/#comments Mon, 07 Sep 2009 04:27:29 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=752 Callaway Nikon Players Range Finder I'm not a big range finder guy. I think I got soured on them because of a certain incident...

One time I played in a OGA tournament and was paired with this guy who used one on every single shot. I'm not exaggerating. He would be 35 feet off of the green and pull out his rangefinder. It was part of his pre-shot routine, for Pete's sake! Ugggh... Needless to say, our group fell behind, and we were warned to keep up with the group in front of us.

That being said, I do understand they are pretty handy and can help your game quite a bit. Of all the ones I've looked at, I like these Callaway Nikon Players Series rangefinders. It has 6 x magnifications, and with the touch of a button this bad boy can measure distances instantly to within one yard. In addition, it can give you distances of different targets in succession for up to 8 seconds, thus you can figure out whether to go for the green or hit that perfect lay-up shot.

What I like best about this rangefinder is how small and lightweight it is. It comes with a pretty cool sport case with a removable travel cover for the objective and eyepiece.

So if you are dying to buy a rangefinder, this one is a good choice. Then again for another hundred bucks you could get my favorite golf toy of all times, The Sky Caddie. It's a golf GPS that will give you your yardages and so much more.

Just do me a favor: whether you get this Rangefinder or the Sky Caddie, please don't use it for a 35 foot pitch shot. I think you can eyeball that one on your own.

Opti-Logic Pinpoint Laser Range Finder | Digital LCD Display http://www.zipgolfer.com/opti-logic-pinpoint-laser-range-finder-digital-lcd-display/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/opti-logic-pinpoint-laser-range-finder-digital-lcd-display/#comments Sun, 06 Sep 2009 20:18:50 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=722 Opti-Logic Pinpoint Laser Range Finder Here's another rangefinder that can tell you how far away that plane is that is flying overhead. The Opti-Logic Pinpoint GL Laser Range Finder has a range of 1000 yards to a reflector and 800 yards reflector-less.

So never fear; if you hit your driver over 800 yards, you now will know when to opt for the layup shot. This rangefinder has an automatic rain mode for accurate readings, rain or shine. The easy to read LCD displays distances in yards or meters, and the Red Dot Aiming System gives you precision readings.

As powerful as this rangefinder is, I just reviewed an even more powerful one. If you want to buy one of these crazy devices, don't mess around with this "woozy" thing -- go for the Bushnell Golf Pinseeker 1500 Tournament Edition Laser Rangefinder (that'll give you another 500 yards.) This guy will spot the distance of a squirrel running across the fairway of a hole you won't play for another hour. Of course, if it were me, I'd use it to try to figure out where the heck the beer girl has wandered off to.

Ah, seriously folks, just buy a Sky Caddie. It's a really cool GPS system that is the closest thing you can get to having a caddie standing next to you. (No reflectors required.)

Bushnell Pinseeker 1500 Yard | Tournament Waterproof Laser Range Finder http://www.zipgolfer.com/bushnell-pinseeker-1500-yard-tournament-waterproof-laser-range-finder/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/bushnell-pinseeker-1500-yard-tournament-waterproof-laser-range-finder/#comments Sat, 05 Sep 2009 16:12:23 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=717 Bushnell Pinseeker 1500 Yard I've reviewed a number of these rangefinders, but this one has to be the biggest and "baddest" of the bunch. The Bushnell Golf Pinseeker 1500 Tournament Edition Laser Rangefinder has a range of 1500 yards, accurate to the yard.

Now you all know how I really hate to be the voice of reason, but could somebody please tell me why anyone would need to get a yardage of a target that is 1500 yards away? I'm talking about a golfer that is, not a submarine captain.

Let's see what other features this has (perhaps a torpedo): This Rangefinder has a RainGuard waterproof body with a built-in tripod mount, and a 340-foot field of view at 1000 yards. (I really didn't know they had something this powerful, and what's more is, after reading the specs on this I immediately jumped up and closed my shades!)

The Pinseeker 1500 admits infrared energy pulses. Its Advanced Digital microprocessor and ASIC chip (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) gives you an instantaneous and accurate reading every time.

If this kind of toy interests you, by all means purchase this powerhouse. It will not only improve your game by helping you realize how far you hit your clubs; it will speed up your game by you not having to search for distances on sprinkler heads.

I, on the other hand, would opt for the Sky Caddie rather than a Rangefinder/Anti-aircraft device, but that's just me.

Golf Buddy GPS w/ Range Finder | Digital Golf Gadget http://www.zipgolfer.com/golf-buddy-gps-w-range-finder-digital-golf-gadget/ http://www.zipgolfer.com/golf-buddy-gps-w-range-finder-digital-golf-gadget/#comments Sat, 22 Aug 2009 01:43:45 +0000 Robert http://www.zipgolfer.com/?p=438 Golf Buddy GPS w/ Range FinderHave you ever played one of those courses that are poorly marked? You can't find a yardage on a sprinkler head, none of the cart paths are marked, and there are no "barber poles" to indicate 150 yards. I get so frustrated wandering around the fairway like I dropped my car keys.

I've been tempted to buy one of these range finders, and this Golf Buddy is pretty cool. My brother-in-law brought one the last time I played with him. It's a handheld GPS system that will give you an exact distance to the green. You can easily see how far it is to the front, center, and middle of the green. While I'm out there searching for a marker, he would just yell out, "Rob, you have 150 to the front, 160 to the middle, and 175 to the back."

The Golf Buddy will automatically determine what course you're on when you turn it on, and it holds 1000 courses. The best thing about it is that there are no annual fees.

Although I do like the Golf Buddy, it pales in comparison to the "Big Kahuna" that I like even better: The Sky Caddie. The Sky Caddie is much "slicker." It has a more detailed display, and a few more bells and whistles. The Sky Caddie shows you even more hazards and gives you more data.

Whichever one you choose, it will improve your game as well as your speed. Less pacing around looking for a marker means more time spent lining up that birdie putt. Just remember, though: it won't help you find your car keys.
