With today's technology, you need to select the right club for you. Even with the simple ol' sand wedge.
Here's a very nice forgiving wedge from Mizuno. This club is designed for the mid to higher handicappers that are looking for a club that they don't have to hit on the exact center of the clubface every time.
This club is durable double nickel chrome plated with mirror satin finish. The large club face is a forged cavity back with an extreme wide sole. It has U-grooves to produce a lot of spin.
This club is okay, and certainly if you play Mizuno, go ahead and dive in. On the other hand, if you are looking for a handy wedge that is super forgiving and incorporates all the benefits from the latest technology, check out the Solus RD 4.1 Wedge. This is a very cool wedge that is extremely forgiving and very easy to hit.
The look of the Solus takes a little getting used to, but if you can get past that, you will appreciate the large cavity back club head. Plus, the milled face will put way more spin on the ball then the Mizuno MX-950.
If you're looking for something more tradition, and you want a high performance wedge, check out my favorite: the Titleist Vokey Spin Milled Oil Can Wedge. This is a player's wedge that has no rival.
Be honest with yourself about your ability and study up on the technology, and you'll find the right wedge for your game.
