I am a little frugal when it comes to golf apparel. I'm still sporting my old Hang Ten surf shirt out on the old links. (If I look too sharp, I'm afraid my fellow golf partners are going to expect me to play well.) My friend Nick on the other hand dresses quite dapper and is particular about what he wears on the golf course. He swears by these Nike Dri-Fit Polos. They are his prized possessions! He probably has 50 of them.
Nick, by the way, is a scratch golfer who plays quite often in the Colorado sun. He tells me he loves these shirts because they move with him when he swings. The dry fit material wicks sweat away and keeps him dry, and they have many trendy stylish designs. He's tried a few of the other brands, but only Nike and Adidias stand up to his critical appraisal. The other brands' shirts tend to feel "heavier", and the material feels "cheaper."
Finally, he likes how Nike is always tweaking and experimenting with their design (for example, adding vents and changing the cut of their shirts). He adds, "Make sure the shirt fits well in order for the dry fit technology to perform the way it's designed, and if you are in between sizes, go with the smaller one because the material stretches. If the shirt fits baggy, than you are not getting the full benefit of the Dri-Fit technology."
Thanks Nick, but one more question: Does this mean if I trash my old surf shirts and put one of these cool Dri-Fit polos on, I'll play like a scratch golfer?
